A Day with Lydia

This past Thursday, I had the opportunity to preach in high school chapel at Lancaster Baptist School. It worked out to take Lydia (my four year old) with me for the day. We got up early and flew out of Sacramento and into Ontario. God showed favor upon us as we were given a 2011 Ford Mustang Convertible for the same rate as an economy rental car (Thanks, Budget!).

We drove from Ontario to Lancaster and then I preached in chapel. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the students and Dr. Salazar! It was refreshing to see such a great spirit and response.

After preaching, Lydia and I enjoyed the drive from Lancaster to Ontario with the top down! We went to Rainforest Cafe for lunch and Lydia really enjoyed the “thunderstorm” that they have in the restaurant every twenty minutes.

After lunch we went shopping and purchased Lydia a gift to remember the day by and then a gift for everyone in the family that stayed home. After shopping we had about thirty minutes to kill before our flight home and on the way to the airport we passed a Bass Pro Shop. We stopped in and were amazed at how much there was to see. They had a stream flowing throughout the store with live rainbow trout in it. One of the employees gave Lydia fish food to feed the rainbow trout.

We returned the rental car and then made our way through security to catch our flight home. Our flight was delayed one hour but our gate was directly across from a candy store. Lydia enjoyed that! We purchased some candy and then found a television and watched a few minutes of the San Francisco Giants playoff game. Once we landed and got back into our car, we barely got out of the parking garage and Lydia was sound asleep.

I thank God for the wonderful family He has blessed me with. I am so grateful for the mentors in my life that challenged me to plan days such as this. It was worth it all!
